What you save by switching to utility-first.
Most Indian businesses over-pay on marketing-class messages for flows that are textbook utility. Here’s the maths.
Significantly lower per-message cost
Utility-category WhatsApp messages are priced well below marketing under Meta's current rate card. We pass the full saving on — no aggregator markup, no platform fee on top.
No marketing opt-in friction
Utility templates work on existing service relationships. If they ordered, paid or booked, you can update them on WhatsApp without a separate consent flow.
Sub-3s delivery
Direct connection to Meta WhatsApp Cloud API. No middle-aggregator hops, no template proxy layer slowing down delivery to your customers.
Auto-fallback to SMS
If Meta delivery fails (cold number, blocked, no internet), the same payload retries on a DLT-registered SMS route within seconds. You only pay for what lands.
Eight industries, one utility API.

WhatsApp utility, answered.
What's the difference between WhatsApp utility and marketing messages?
Utility messages are non-promotional and triggered by a specific user action — order confirmations, OTPs, payment receipts, shipping updates, appointment reminders. Marketing messages promote products, offers or re-engagement and sit in a separate template category. Meta categorises and prices them separately: utility templates are meaningfully cheaper and only require an existing service relationship with the user, no marketing-opt-in friction.
How much does a WhatsApp utility message cost in India?
Custom-quoted based on volume. Typically meaningfully cheaper than marketing-category messages because of Meta's utility tier — talk to onboarding for an exact rate. We share a full rate sheet within 24 hours of your application, with no setup fee and no platform fee on top.
Do utility messages need user opt-in?
Utility templates do not need a separate marketing-opt-in flow — they only require a legitimate service relationship. If a user placed an order, made a payment or booked an appointment with you, you can send them order, payment, shipping or booking updates on WhatsApp without a marketing consent layer. Meta still requires that the message be transactional and tied to the user's action.
How do I get a utility template approved?
Submit a template via the QuickAuth dashboard with category set to UTILITY, body text using {{1}}, {{2}} merge fields, and an example payload. Meta typically approves utility templates in under 24 hours. We pre-screen for the most common rejection reasons — promotional language, missing variables, unsupported formatting — and our deliverability team rewrites borderline templates free of charge during the categorization workshop.
Can I use utility templates for OTPs?
Yes — but Meta has a dedicated AUTHENTICATION category for OTPs that is even cheaper and faster to approve than UTILITY. QuickAuth automatically routes OTP traffic through authentication templates and reserves UTILITY templates for order, payment, shipping, booking and account-alert flows. Both share the same delivery infrastructure.
Why are utility messages cheaper than marketing?
Meta wants WhatsApp to remain a high-trust inbox, so it prices service-related messages well below promotional ones. Marketing conversations carry stricter consent and quality requirements, are likelier to be reported, and demand more of Meta's policy attention. Utility messages are tied to actions the user already initiated — Meta passes that lower-risk profile back to senders as a lower per-message rate.
Ship utility messages your users actually want.
Move the messages your users already expect onto WhatsApp, meaningfully cut messaging spend via utility-tier routing, and keep your SMS route as the automatic fallback. The same stack runs your authentication when you’re ready — WhatsApp OTP and auto-read on Android & iOS.
